Update 2/26/12: Woof Woof!  Great news!  My eye dogter reduced 2 of my eye meds and took another one away completely.  Signs that I am on the road to a healthy recovery!  Check out my new photo- my eyes are no longer filled with cataracts!  Woof!  I can finally see again and boy am I playing catch up with the world!  I love to run in the backyard and see everything- the trees, the grass, the birds... well you get my drift.  My foster Mom still has to put a lot of topical medications in my eyes because I only had double cataract surgery 2 weeks ago but I let her do it every day with no hassle.  I am really good about getting my insulin shots too!  I stand still and let her do whatever she has to do to me.  Guess what else?  I know how to come and sit on command.  I am also VERY food motivated.  As a matter of fact, I expect a treat after I get the eye meds or insulin.  I do need to return to the eye specialist again in less than 2 weeks for what I hope will be my final re-check.  I am a super sweet boy looking for a furever home that can take care of me and love me the same way I will love them.  Woof!

My name is Buddah and like my name, I am very special.  The Rescue Squad has been working patiently with a NJ Shelter to bring me into rescue.  I am a very young diabetic dog and as a result developed cataracts in both of my eyes.  After many dogter visits and tests, I was deemed to be a candidate for double eye surgery.  Last week, I finally had my double eye surgery and have been recovering since.  So far I am starting to see a little bit better but I know I have a way to go.  I am going to the dogter again today with one of the pawsome shelter workers for a recheck and then I will officially be in rescue.  I have been assessed by a Rescue Squad volunteer and proved to be a real sweetie who loves attention.  Give them a few days to get to know me outside of the shelter setting.  In the meantime, if you have experience giving a dog insulin shots 2x a day or are willing to learn to do it, please put in an application at www.yorkie911rescue.com.
