Update 6/24/12: I have made so much progress while in Rescue!  I am finally learning how to be a happy dog.  I also just got a new hair do and feel like a different dog.  I am finally getting the much needed socialization I lacked and am learning good behaviors.  I have also learned the "come" and "sit" commands that I don't always have to be on guard.  I am looking for a moderately quiet household with a furever family that will enjoy my company.  I love to be in my own bed in the same room as you, I'm not really a snuggle bug type of dog.  I'm a little more independent but that doesn't mean I won't love you furever and ever!  I promise I will never take my eye off of you!  Woof!

Update 5/22/12: I am misunderstood and for reasons humans may never understand.  I lost the only Mother I ever knew unexpectedly only to move in with an active family in my retiree years.  About a year ago, I got into an accident that caused me to lose an eye and now I am in foster care looking for a new home.  I am "broken" and in desperate need of a family who can help to "fix" me.  I am a sweet boy with so much potential but I am unsure about being touched in certain ways or picked up unexpectedly.  My foster Mommy has been working with me and teaching me how to trust her and I have been doing a wonderful job.  I know she is the Alpha boss of my new pack and I look to her for guidance and leadership.  If you are an Alpha family that can help me be the best little pup that I can be, then put in an adoption application for me at www.yorkie911rescue.com!  My adoption fee is $300.

Update 5/5/12: I am currently in doggie boot camp learning what acceptable behaviors are and my foster family can not believe how quickly I am learning!  Whoever said "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" obviously did not have a dog like me!  I went to the dogter the other day and found out that I have a pretty bad ear infection in both ears which have been bothering me for a while.  My foster family believes this is part of the reason I am so easily irritated because I am a sweet boy otherwise!  I started my medication immediately and will continue it for a week.  Then I have to go back to the dogter for a dental and the dogter said they will drain my ears while I am under with the anesthesia.  I also have food guarding issues which my foster family has also been working on as well.  They hand feed me and work on building up my trust so I don't get upset when I am eating.  Whoever adopts me will need to continue working with me and remind me that I am a good dog and do not need to be reactive for any reason!  I get along with other dogs and would do best in an older home with no young children.  The Rescue Squad is confident that a one eyed cutie like me will find the perfect furever home!  Fill out an adoption application if you think we would be a great match!

Update 4/13/12: A Rescue Squad volunteer came to visit and I was on my best behavior.  I am fine around other dogs and am pretty good about going potty outside but I am really nervous about the lifestyle in my house.  I live with energetic kids who have energetic friends that make very loud noises and play on my floor!  Grrrr.  A lot of the time, I am placed behind a baby gate to keep me away from all of the commotion.  I am convinced that my non-furry sister thinks I may no longer be able to tolerate the craziness and one day I will snap!  That is no way for a pup to live.  I am used to a quiet home where my Mommy let me be a spoiled boy and now my world is upside down.  Please help me turn it back right side up... where it should be!  If you have a quiet home and are looking for calm, laidback companion, please put in your application for me!  Oh and incase you are wondering, I had surgery to remove my eye a few months ago.  It definitely adds character to my rather typical Yorkie personality.

Hey there!  My name is Charley and I am looking for a furever home.  I was living with my Mommy then I thought I was taking a short vacation with my non-furry sister only to find out that my Mommy had passed away!  Imagine how shocked I was to find out this terrible news.  Now I live with my non-furry sister and her family permanently but things are not working out as well as we all hoped.  The thing is, my new home has small children and like most Yorkies, we do not like the fast hands and feet of little kids.  They move too quick and scare me a lot so I growl at them often.  While I do not want to snap at them, I have to do something to warn them to leave me alone.  I know my non-furry sister is really upset about the entire situation but we all know it would be much better if I found a home where I would be the center of attention.  I should be the love of my furever family's life and I also require a home without young children.  If you think we are a match, please put your application in at www.yorkie911rescue.com!
