Update8/29/12: My foster mom noticed that I was limping a little after playtime so she took me to see the dogtor and it turns out I will be going in for surgery for my luxating patella (knee cap pops out) on Sept 14th. The dogtor says I will need a little time in solitary confinement but then should be all better! Stay tuned for updates.
Update 8/25/12: I am making great strides! I have become comfortable at home and absolutely love to sit on the couch and snuggle. Oh boy do I also love to get a massage or have my head rubbed! I have learned that dog treats are delicious and am now taking food from other people... not just from my foster Mommy! I play a little bit with my foster fur-brothers & sister. I like to chase cats with them and love to be outside running around in the yard! I have also found a new love..... squeaky toys!! I just can't get enough of playing with those squeaky toys. I feel safe in my crate and go directly in it at bedtime. I sleep throughout the night without needing to use the bathroom but I do need reassurance once every evening to make sure that my foster Mom is near me. I am still very nervous, timid and shy but my foster Mom is working on this by going out every day in the car and going places which allow pets to help socialize me. My foster mom tries to have as many people as possible gently pet or hold me to help me with my fears. My foster Mommy is also continually working on house training. I am learning that consistency is key!
Update 7/17/12: I am a very shy and timid girl. I am very nervous and scared of pretty much everything. I need to be approached slowly and calmly because it always feels like I am going to be hit. The Rescue Squad assures me they would never hurt me but my confidence is so low from my past life. I follow my foster Mom around the house and I seem more comfortable when she is near by. I am very quiet and only bark when I get excited to see my foster Mom when she comes home. I have played a few times with my foster fur-sibling but I become scared and stop playing after a brief time. The good news is that as I continue to learn the many new things I am learning in foster care, I am slowly building up my trust. I recently started to come over to my foster Mom but I still back away when she goes to touch me. I do sit next to her on the couch or will sit on her lap but I really like to be pet more than held. I'm not quite comfortable being held just yet but look forward to the days that this will be possible. I am not house trained but my foster family is working on this task with me. It may take some time but I am starting to realize that I am worth it! I like to take very short walks especially when the entire pack is with me. I also love to eat- no shyness there! I need a very patient and calm furever family to love me. If you feel confident that you can continue to help me come out of my shell so I can be the amazing little girl I know I can be, then please put your application in at www.yorkie911rescue.com. Woof Woof! My name is Polly and I am new to rescue. I am cute Yorkie girl who am now orphaned and looking for a furever family to love and care for me for the rest of my life! I am super nervous and timid but I am starting to come out of my shell. I even chased my foster fursibling around the yard for the first time the other day... for a whole 2 minutes! I even surprised myself because I am very submissive. If you think we are a match please do not hesitate to put in an application for me! My adoption fee is $325 and you can fill out an adoption application at www.yorkie911rescue.com! More about PollyGood with Dogs
