If you look closely you can see that Van is missing an ear. We don't have much information on his history, but imagine it hasnt been a great life for him so far... and as such we understand why he is cautious and slow to trust. However, we are very hopeful for him and can see that as he gets to know us here at the rescue, he is more trustful, solicits attention and will even give kisses.  Ideally Van requires a patient home who will move slowly with him and give him the time and space he needs to learn that people are good and kind.
